Foreword from Butch:

"Mahalo" means "thank you" in Hawaiian, but cannot adequately express my gratitude to the nice people who have taken the time to send me compliments about my music or performance. Mahalo no ("Thank you very much")!

Received: April 2000 from Mason and Judy Matheny

My name in Mason Matheny and my wife Judy and I were on board the cruise ship the last week of April 2000 and along with my Brother Jim Matheny and his wife Linda. Butch, I enjoyed you so much listening to you at the performances all week, but more importantly getting to know you better and read about you in the newsletter and web page. You took the time to get to know us and I know it was sincere because you sing and talk and interact from the heart and that was obvious. Your singing (Great voice and talent), better than most and as good as any was also from the heart. I intend to keep in touch and although you must have countless friends and getting more each day hope you have a minute for me thru e-mail at least. I love Hawaii as does my wife and want to move there soon and intend to see you again soon. You and your music would be another reason for that love for the beautiful Islands.

Again thanks for taking the time with us on the ship and being kind and singing so wonderful and making the experience so special. I hope you get this letter and respond, however I know you are a very busy person.

Your new Friend Mason
(Oklahoma)

Good Afternoon Butch,

The cruise on the Enchantment of the Seas sounds fabulous. Gene and I have never been to St. Maarten, St. Thomas/St. John in the U. S. Virgin Islands and Nassau, Bahamas in fact our cruise in November 1999 was our first one. We have fond wonderful memories of it and touring Hawaii. It is truly paradise on earth. We are playing your tapes on a regular basis. You are a very gifted vocalist and musician. We have discussed the cruise in October, but haven't made up our minds as yet. We know you will be a big hit and probably the managers of the Enchantment of the Seas won't let you go back to the S. S. Independence.

HAVE A GREAT DAY, BUTCH!!!!

Bye, Bye

Hi Butch,

I hope you are having a wonderful vacation and having a lot of fun with your family and friends.

School has been out for over a week here which means we'll probably make up days on Sat. That's no problem for me, I just want to get the job done. The most important thing is for the kids to be safe.

Butch, I hope you are not tired of hearing just how much your music means to me. I have enjoyed the range of your voice so much. You really have a beautiful voice. I listened to it going to work this morning since we had a teacher work day. The ride was scary for me because there was ice on the road and I don't know how to drive on ice. Your songs calmed me down and I could relax better listening to you sing.

Take care and enjoy your time off the ship.

Aloha, Ann

REPLY: Ann, Aloha from sunny Hawaii where the ice is served in glasses... (BIG SMILE) ...and mahalo for the kind words about my music.

Very interesting quotes Butch, but most important your FANTASTIC web site -- which I lost no time in bookmarking. We will regularly visit! Thank you.
